Bait riggings, how to tie knots and how to cast longer?

I live in NJ and taking a trip to florida and im just wondering what the best baits are to catch any type of fish in florida. Also if you have specific baits for specific fish please let me know. Im SALTWATER FISHING!!!! thanks

I am looking at a 10 or 12 foot shakespeare powerrod and wondering if either of those would work for surf fishing. Would they cast well? they only run about 25 bucks and I am trying to be cheap but I am open to other ideas.
